Caption : | Black-legged kittiwakes are a fairly common sight near the faces of Glacier Bay’s tidewater glaciers. They nest on cliffs adjacent to the glaciers where they can avoid predators such as bears and mink. However, these steep cliffs can’t prevent attacks from avian predators like crows, ravens, eagles and peregrine falcons. This bird was stretching its wings while it rested on a small piece of brash ice near Margerie Glacier. |
