Ok, so I like electronic dance music, more specifically Trance. When I started in the 1990's, the US was a bit behind in that department.
Still, with San Francisco and San Jose nearby, I've had some opportunities to see some great EDM/Trance DJs. Back in the early 2000's, they sadly played club music in the US that was nowhere close to the hits they had composed and were known for, but over the years, as Trance started becoming more popular, those DJs finally started playing their good tunes in the US too, and maybe from 2004 on, it's only been getting better.
Popsicle Halloween 2004 was really the beginning of great music parties in the San Francisco Area, and thankfully things have gotten even better since then

As a matter of fact, after another 10 years (2015 and beyond) the good news is that Trance has grown quite a following in the US, and places like the SF Bay Area, and while Trance has been declared dead a few times in the last 10 years, it's still going strong here.
Trance Family SF is definitely strong in the area, we've been getting more big trance parties every year, including many top DJs that come visit us what feels like every other week now (as of 2018-2019), and through those events, I made many friends in Trance Family SF. Thanks to you all.

Over those years, I got the chance to meet a few of my favourite DJs, including Armin more than once, and my last hobby has been to work on lights for my shirt and pants (version 3) and (version 4)

This is technically called Euphoria Weekender, but let's call bullshit on the name when it's now 6 days and 7 days next year, because Rick is an overachiever :) I wrote an more detailled report last year, and don't really want to repeat everything I wrote there, so I recommend you look at that page

glad to be back

  • I alo need to note that when so many events fail to provide set times, or even just order of DJs so we have a chance of knowing who is playing, EW provided this before the event started, remaining an example for others to follow:

I arrived just before sunset for Day 0 at Nine Lives:

Great to run into friends again:

    and make new ones:

And one big plus from Euphoria, is still the number of DJs you can meet and chat with:

Many parties, many days, I'm just going to give all the party pictures at once, 6 days! :)

    Psytrance! Thank you!
    Psytrance! Thank you!

As part of the multiple venues, my favorite is still Gianpula which has so many clubs within it, and fantastic staff, much better than Uno for instance. They take the job seriously, and it shows:

had a wonderful chat with Anthony, so glad to have him back

The days were long, often 12h or more. People who showed up around opening time each day, were heroes:

And one last day, starting at noon:

    the views didn't suck :)

6 days, it was a lot :) I did my best to attend most of it, but I did miss some hours. No idea who managed to go to every hour or clocked the highest attendance :)

    Should you go?

Just like I said last year, if you're looking for a big party with big name DJs, Euphoria is not where you want to go. Consider Rong in May (the bigger of the 3 with lasers and confetti and smoke and fireworks :)) ) or Captured in Sept as an in between answer (not too big, but some bigger name DJs).
But if you wanted the most trance money can buy (and it's honestly very well priced), Euphoria is where it's at. There is literally no trance event that lasts 6 or 7 days, so that puts things to rest right there :) Also, as mentioned below, no event matches the family feel you get at EW, that means a lot to me, and makes that event special.

Like I said last year, Since I'll always regret never having been to Lumi 10 years ago when it was nice and small, it was actually fantastic to be able to experience this with Euphoria, and really I have to repeat how nice it was to have a festival where we were all one, no VIP, no backstage passes, and DJs coming to party with us and chat and have fun! I do seriously mean that this is the most "by trance lovers for trance lovers" event I have been to.
And seriously, which other event do you get to play survivor, at? I'm usually pretty good about attending events from start to finish, including the insane hours of EDC Vegas, but for Euphoria 'Weekender', good luck to you, you can always try and go to each and every hour ;)

I also need to add that there was an optional boat party. I didn't go as I had gone to 3 already and I would have been barely up and awake, but I heard it was a much better boat with more space and better sound than the previous boat parties I had been to, so I guess I missed out.

The variety of venues was good, great to enjoy different views and setups, although that also meant no matter where you stayed, you were not close to the venue every day :) This is true of all 3 Malta events. All the venues had nice security, which is always a big plus. All of them also allowed paying with real money, no fake money BS. Thank you!

Just like last year, Euphoria was absolutely a unique event (and I mean that in a very good way :) ), and it was lots of fun to attend this year again. As always, huge thanks to the organizers and the numerous DJs who played for our enjoyment. Thank you!
